Pacific Lutheran University hosted Pacific University this past Saturday, beating the visiting Boxers 17-16. With a couple of seconds left, senior Nick Kaylor successfully converted a 20-yard field goal to seal the deal for the Lutes. The win is PLU’s fifth of the season. Pacific is no longer undefeated after losing to the Lutes.
The running game propelled PLU to their fifth victory of the season. Both running back Niko Madison and fullback Va’aselau Logotala tallied one rushing touchdown. The Lutes held a 14-0 lead until the second quarter, when Pacific made a field goal.
Wide receiver Kellen Westering, a junior, led the Lutes’ receiving corps with 102 yards on seven catches. Even though Jon Zeglin, a senior, recorded only one catch during the game for 41 yards.
The Lutes are schedule to play Willamette Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The game will be at Willamette.
