Dear Editor,

Reading your recent editorial, I am grateful for the courage and forthrightness of Matthew Salzano and Brooke Thomas.  (‘Letter from our Editors:  Reporting boldly’ by Matthew Salzano & Brooke Thames, Mast Media, Nov. 18, 2016)  It is this kind of spirit that creates a better community and world.  Telling stories “because it is how the voices of the unheard can have a lasting impact” is why I write this letter.  In our world today, over 100 million children and adolescents don’t have a chance at an education.  Seeing this, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Education for All Act.  Now it is up to the Senate.  We can each speak on behalf of these millions of children by calling our senators and asking them to pass the Education for All Act (S. 3256).  Take an action to make the world a better place:  call Senator Murray at (202) 224-2621 and Senator Cantwell at (202) 224-3441, or of course you can tweet, email them, or leave a message on their website, or Facebook.  Interested in making the world a better place through democratic action like this?  See RESULTS, results.org, and check out the Tacoma group or the Real Change Scholar program.  Each of us has a voice that can be used to create a better world.
