3/13 U.C. Bicycle Theft

Date: Monday, March 13, 2017
Time: 7:15 AM
Location: Anderson University Center, North Bicycle Rack
Description: Campus Safety officers responded to a possible bicycle theft in progress. Officers made contact with a community member who was walking away from the north Anderson University Center bicycle rack carrying a bicycle frame. During the contact, the suspect dropped the bike frame and left campus. No identification information was obtained. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the suspect. The owner of the bicycle is unknown at this time.

 

3/13 Columbia Center Lot Collision

Location: Columbia Center Parking Lot
Description: A Campus Safety parking officer observed a minor vehicle collision between a vehicle and a parked car in the Columbia Center parking lot. Campus Safety officers were able to connect both parties and proper information was exchanged.

 

3/13 Northwest Lot Collision

Date: Monday, March 13, 2017
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Northwest Parking Lot
Description: A PLU dining services van struck a vehicle belonging to a staff member while backing-up in the Northwest parking lot. PLU’s insurance information was provided to the vehicle’s owner. The university’s Risk Manager was notified.

 

3/14 123rd St Vehicle Prowl

Date: Tuesday, March 14, 2017
Time: 9:50 AM
Location: 123rd Street South at Nesvig Alumni House
Description: A student reported that her debit card and identification were taken out of her car sometime between 09:00 and 09:50 AM. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft. A check of campus cameras did not reveal any additional information or suspects at this time.

 

3/15 Library Theft

Date: Wednesday, March 15, 2017
Time: 2:00 PM
Location: Mortvedt Library, Mary Baker Russell Music Center
Description: Campus Safety officers and a Pierce County Sheriff’s deputy working for PLU responded to a report of two suspicious males attempting to open doors inside Mary Baker Russell Music Center. The two males were identified and are not PLU related. They claimed they were just wandering through campus. They were asked to leave campus. Shortly after, a student reported to Campus Safety that his backpack had been stolen from Mortvedt Library. Review of video footage from Campus Safety’s earlier contact showed the two suspects in possession of the stolen backpack. Campus Safety officers and Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to locate the two suspects again with negative results. Video footage was compiled and copies were provided to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. [Redacted] filed a report with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department for the theft.

 

3/15 Kreidler Fire Alarm

Location: Kreidler Residence Hall
Description: Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated in Kreidler Residence Hall. Campus Safety officers were notified upon arrival that the alarm had been caused by a student who accidentally bumped a pull station. Campus Safety officers reset the fire alarm system.

 

3/15 Hinderlie Fire Alarm

Date: Wednesday, March 15, 2017
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Hinderlie Residence Hall
Description: Campus Safety and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm in Hinderlie Residence Hall. Firefighters discovered the cause of the alarm was the use of a lavender vaporizer in one of the rooms. The room was ventilated and occupants were allowed back inside.

 

3/16 Ingram Medical Aid

Time: 3:30 PM
Location: Ingram Hall
Description: Campus Safety responded to a medical aid in Ingram for a student who was complaining of a fever and dizziness. Campus Safety officers transported the student to the PLU Health Center at their request.

 

3/17 O.M.M. Shoplifting

Date: Friday, March 17, 2017
Time: 3:45 PM
Location: Old Main Market, Anderson University Center
Description: Campus Safety responded to Old Main Market at the request of staff who had caught a juvenile shoplifting. The juvenile was issued a Restricted From Campus notice and was escorted off campus. The juvenile had been deceitful with Campus Safety officers and information on him was provided to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department School Resource Officer at Keithley Middle School for confirmation. Upon confirmation, a copy of the Restricted From Campus notice will be mailed to the juvenile’s parents.

 

3/19 Stuen Medical Aid

Date: Sunday, March 19, 2017
Time: 2:00 AM
Location: Stuen Residence Hall
Description: Campus Safety responded to assist a student who was displaying signs of extreme intoxication. Campus Safety officers requested response from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue after making contact. Emergency Medical Technicians evaluated and determined that transport was not necessary. The student was able to report that he had been drinking off-campus. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities for review.
