3/2 Library Lot Robbery

Date: Thursday, March 2, 2017
Time: 6:23 PM
Location: Library Parking Lot
Description: A student arranged to meet someone after posting an ad on OfferUp™. The buyer displayed the handle of a gun and demanded the student’s phone. The student turned over the shoes they were trying to sell instead and then the suspect fled the area in a vehicle. Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded and took a report.

 

3/3 Pflueger Fire Alarm

Time: 11:45 PM
Location: Pflueger Residence Hall
Description: Campus Safety and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm in Pflueger Residence Hall. Firefighters were able to trace the cause of the alarm to a room. A visual scan of the room resulted in a substance closely resembling ash on a computer desk, but no clear smell of smoke in the room. Firefighters reset the alarm system and cleared the scene. Campus Safety officers remained to address a policy violation found during the visual scan of the room (see “3/4 Pflueger Alcohol Violation”).

 

3/4 Pflueger Alcohol Violation

Location: Pflueger Residence Hall
Description: During an investigation for a fire alarm activation (see “3/3 Pflueger Fire Alarm”), alcohol was seen by Campus Safety officers in plain view. One of the residents was contacted at the room. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities for review.

 

3/4 Phillips Fire Alarm

Date: Saturday, March 4, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Karen Hille Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Studio Theater
Description: Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activation at Karen Hille Phillips Center. An off duty Campus Safety student officer was present at the time of the activation and reported that the cause of the alarm was a fog machine used during a theater rehearsal. Central Pierce Fire & Rescue was not contacted to respond. The fog lingered in the building and a fire watch was implemented until the fire alarm control panel could be reset to normal status several hours later.

 

3/3 U.C. Suspension Violation

Date: Friday, March 3, 2017
Time: 9:30 PM
Location: Anderson University Center
Description: Campus Safety responded to the Anderson University Center after receiving a call from a student who reported seeing a former student they believed to be restricted from campus as a result of a suspension. The former student was gone when Campus Safety officers arrived. Officers were able to make contact by phone and inform the subject that they needed to stay off campus. This matter has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities for review.

 

3/4 Hong Medical Aid

Date: Saturday, March 4, 2017
Time: 8:30 PM
Location: Hong Residence Hall
Description: Campus Safety responded to Hong Residence Hall for a medical aid call. A student had fainted while watching a movie with friends. During evaluation by Campus Safety officers, the student requested to be evaluated by Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. PLU Residential Life was notified at this time. Firefighters advised the student to seek care from a primary or urgent care provider and advised that emergency transport was not necessary based on the symptoms and current state of alertness. Firefighters assisted the student to the vehicle of a friend who was taking the student to an urgent care provider.

 

3/5 Campus Safety Medical Aid

Date: Sunday, March 5, 2017
Time: 6:30 AM
Location: Campus Safety Office (Harstad Residence Hall)
Description: A Parkland community member walked into the Campus Safety office requesting an elastic bandage for an ankle injury that occurred off-campus at an unknown location. Campus Safety officers provided a bandage and a cold pack. The community member declined any further assistance and left the area.

 

3/5 Olson Medical Aid

Date: Sunday, March 5, 2017
Time: 10:34 AM
Location: Olson Gymnasium
Description: Campus Safety was advised that Central Pierce Fire & Rescue had responded to Olson Gym for a medical aid for a non-student who sustained an injury while attending a Jiu-Jitsu event. The guest was transported to the hospital by Central Pierce Fire & Rescue and accompanied by her family.
