2/13 Hong Fire Alarm
Date: Monday, February 13, 2017
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Hong Residence Hall
Description:Â Campus Safety and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm in Hong Residence Hall. Firefighters determined the room where the alarm was triggered in, however a cause of the alarm could not be found. The alarm was reset and students were allowed back inside.
2/13 Library Lot Drug Violation

Time: 8:00 PM
Location: Library Parking Lot, Rear
Description:Â Campus Safety officers contacted two non-students who were sitting in a car in the Library lot and suspected of smoking marijuana. After being informed that marijuana was not allowed on campus, the subjects voluntarily left.
2/16 Stuen Medical Aid
Date: Thursday, February 16, 2017
Time:Â 10:30 PM
Location: Stuen Residence Hall, Floor 2 Lounge
Description:Â Campus Safety responded to a call for medical aid from a student who sustained a cut to his right forearm after running into a brick wall while playing ping-pong. Campus Safety officers applied a dressing to the wound and offered further evaluation by Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, which was declined.
2/17 Columbia Center Lot Property Damage
Time: 12:30 PM
Location: Columbia Center Parking Lot, South
Description: A Campus Safety officer was contacted by a student who explained that a tree branch had fallen and struck the hood and windshield of her car. The officer inspected the vehicle and noted damage to the hood and windshield caused by a 10-foot long branch six inches in diameter that appears to have fallen from a tree. The vehicle was struck as it was parked in the Columbia Center lot.
2/18 Tingelstad Medical Aid
Time: 2:00 AM
Location: Tingelstad Residence Hall
Description:Â Campus Safety was contacted by a Tingelstad Resident Assistant about a male vomiting in a restroom. Campus Safety officers arrived to find a PLU guest vomiting, having difficulty keeping his eyes open, and having difficulty standing. It was determined that the guest had consumed multiple alcohol shots and mixed drinks, with very little food. Central Pierce Fire & Rescue was dispatched and later transported the guest to the hospital. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities for review.
2/18 Hong Fire Alarm
Time: 8:30 PM
Location: Hong Residence Hall
Description:Â Campus Safety and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to an automatic fire alarm activation in Hong Hall. Firefighters’ inspection of the building identified the room of the activation. The room was empty, and the residents were reportedly gone for the weekend. There was no apparent cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset and residents were allowed back in.
2/18 Yakima Ave S Vehicle Theft
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Yakima Ave S, south of 125th St S, west side of street
Description:Â Campus Safety officers made field contact with a PLU student on Yakima Ave as he walked along the Golf Fenceline. He reported that he parked his vehicle, a Grey Honda Accord, along the fence at 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 18th, and that when he returned at 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 19th, the vehicle was gone. Video review of the area shows a potential suspect vehicle. The student has filed a theft report with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
2/20 Hong Fire Alarm
Time: 3:30 AM
Location: Hong Residence Hall
Description:Â Campus Safety and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm in Hong Residence Hall. Upon arrival, firefighters identified the room with the activation, but a cause for the activation could not be determined. The alarm was reset and all residents returned to their rooms.
2/20 Tingelstad Alcohol Violation
Time: 12:30 AM
Location: Tingelstad Residence Hall, Room [redacted]
Description:Â During a routine walk-through of Tingelstad Hall, Campus Safety officers overheard clinking glasses coming from a room. Residential Life was contacted to assist Campus Safety officers with a student-led room search. The resident performed the room search while other occupants in the room were also present. A search of the room yielded two bottles of alcohol and two shot glasses. The items were confiscated and disposed of according to policy. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities for review.
2/20 Hong Fire Alarm

Location: Hong Residence Hall
Description:Â The fire alarm in Hong was triggered due to a faulty sensor in a room. Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded and reset the alarm. There are two Facilities Management work orders outstanding for this sensor problem.
