5/1 Hinderlie Drug Violation

Location: Hinderlie Residence Hall
Description:Â Campus Safety officers responded to a call for assistance from Residential Life staff concerning an odor of marijuana in Hinderlie Residence Hall. Campus Safety officers were able to trace the source of the odor to a resident room. The resident and non-PLU-affiliated guests were contacted in the room. When asked about the source of the smell, they volunteered a small amount of marijuana. Campus Safety officers conducted a student-led room search. The search yielded several cans of beer. All alcohol and marijuana were disposed of according to PLU policy. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilites for review.
5/1 Xavier Medical Aid

Description:Â Campus Safety officers responded to a medical aid call in Xavier Hall after a student fell on the stairs and rolled an ankle. Campus Safety officers provided an ice pack. The student declined assistance from the Health Center or Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. Campus Safety officers assisted the student to a vehicle of another student for transport to the hospital.
5/1 O.M.M. Shoplifting

Description: An Old Main Market student worker reported to Campus Safety that she observed Keithley Middle School students take items from the market and place them into a backpack without paying. Campus Safety officers responded and issued Restricted From Campus (RFC) notices to the two students, then escorted them off of PLU property. Information about the incident was shared with Keithley Middle School administration and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department School Resource Officer. The parents/guardians of the two students will be advised of the RFC notice.
5/1 West Hauge Lot Vehicle Collision

Description:Â Campus Safety officers observed a potential vehicle collision in the West Hauge Parking lot between an unoccupied parked vehicle and a vehicle backing out of an adjacent spot. Officers identified the owners of each vehicle and facilitated the contact between the two parties.
5/1 Hinderlie Fire

Description:Â Campus Safety and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm in Hinderlie Residence Hall. The cause of the alarm was a pizza burning in a kitchen oven. A student reported that they had discovered the pizza they were cooking was smoking so they discharged a fire extinguisher and then evacuated the building. Firefighters advised that all food in the kitchen must be disposed of due to contamination from the dry-chemical fire extinguisher. Facilities Management was advised and responded to clean the kitchen and replace the extinguisher. The oven was taken out of service. Residential Life staff were briefed on the situation. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities for review.
5/2 Harstad Lot Vehicle Prowl

Location: Harstad Parking Lot, Southeast Corner
Description:Â Campus Safety detected and responded to a vehicle prowl in progress in the Harstad Parking Lot. Two male suspects were seen on video surveillance entering a vehicle that was left unlocked. They removed property from the vehicle and left the area eastbound on 122nd Street South. Campus Safety officers patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. The owner of the vehicle was notified of the incident and advised to file a report with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
5/2 Pflueger Fire Alarm / Drug Violation

Description:Â Campus Safety officers and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm activation in Pflueger Residence Hall. Officers discovered the source location of the alarm. Inside the room they noticed an odd smell and found evidence of recent vaping. Evidence was gathered and the alarm was reset. The Residence Director was informed. This incident has been forwarded to PLU Student Rights and Responsibilities for review.
5/2 208 Garfield Trespassing

Location: 208 Garfield Restaurant
Description:Â The manager of 208 Garfield called Campus Safety concerning an unwanted guest in the restaurant. Campus Safety officers responded and contacted a community member who appeared to be suffering from a mental health issue or possibly under the influence of drugs and was acting erratically. He was asked to leave and not to return.
5/3 Ivy Lot Vehicle Prowl

Description:Â Campus Safety officers discovered evidence of a vehicle prowl that had occurred in the Ivy parking lot. The owner of the vehicle was contacted. Officers reviewed video footage and determined that an unknown individual entered the vehicle, then carried the items away eastbound. Officers checked the area traveled by the suspect for potential discarded items with negative results.
5/3 A.U.C. Vandalism

Description:Â Staff members in the Anderson University Center reported to Campus Safety that a desk was discovered to have been vandalized with graffiti sometime in the afternoon of Tuesday, May 2nd. A group of middle school-aged individuals were seen in the area where the desk was located prior to the discovery, but no suspect information is available. A work order has been placed with Facilities Management to have the graffiti removed. The desk has been taken out of view from the public while pending repairs.

Description:Â Campus Safety officers responded to a medical aid call for a dining staff member who was feeling lightheaded and dizzy. The staff member reported feeling overwhelmed by the heat in the area where she was working. Her fellow staff members had already provided her with water to drink and ice to cool her head and neck. Officers remained on scene for approximately ten minutes and saw improved alertness. The staff member indicated that they felt much better.
5/4 South Hall Alcohol Violation

Description:Â Campus Safety received a report of two students sitting on the roof of South Hall above the main lounge in lawn chairs and drinking beer. The students lived in a room with a window that opens to the roof. They removed the screen on the window to access the roof. Campus Safety officers and the Residence Director contacted the students. This incident has been forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilites for review.
5/5 Park/125th PLU Vehicle Collision

Location: Park Avenue South & 125th Street South
Description:Â While on routine patrol, Campus Safety officers observed two vehicles pulled off of the road at the intersection of Park Avenue South and 125th Street South as if a collision had just occurred. Officers made contact with a student, the driver of a PLU Stage Services truck, and the non-PLU affiliated driver of the other vehicle. There were no reported injuries. Officers facilitated the exchange of insurance information between the parties.
5/8 Neeb Lot Vehicle Vandalism

Description:Â Campus Safety officers discovered a vehicle in the Neeb Center parking lot with a broken window. It did not appear that entry had been made into the vehicle. The vehicle is not registered in the PLU vehicle registration system.

Description:Â Campus Safety was contacted by a student who was feeling depressed about school assignments. Campus Safety officers contacted the student and assisted with connecting them with the On-Call Counselor.
