Pacific Lutheran University’s student film and television program Showrunners will premiere their three-part film series “Mutual Friends” to the campus on April 28. The comedy series focuses on the story of Edward Hyne and his adventures in social media. Hyne creates an online presence full of fabricated stories in order to make a connection with his new friend Dani Crew. As Crew and Hyne’s relationship grow, Hyne gets pulled farther into the falsehoods he has made.
The series stars junior Christopher Gettel-Gilmartin as Hyne along with juniors Shelby Mathison and Elsa Kienberger and seniors Nicolai Roycroft and Madisen Crowley.
Showrunners is a program with the Center for Media Studies at PLU. The program aims to teach students how the process of film and television production works.
Production for “Mutual Friends” started last May under senior Kate Wilson as the writing team lead. The series was created under the direction of junior Megan Longstaff as director and sophomore Jim Carrey as director of cinematography.
Showrunners has a screening for all three parts of the series and gives a chance for students to interact with the cast and team on April 27th in Ingram 100. The online release of “Mutual Friends” will start April 28 on the program’s YouTube and Facebook page.
