It seems as though the Miami Heat were simply delaying the inevitable after their Game 5 win, as the Los Angeles Lakers took Game 6 to become the 2019-2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) champions.
The Lakers were in control from the tip to the final buzzer, as the Heat never led at any point in the game. Going into halftime with a 28 point lead, the Lakers kept their foot on the gas in the second half, winning the game and the series 106-93.
LeBron James finished the game with a triple-double in the Finals, finishing the game with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. This is James’ 11th career Finals triple-double, which is an NBA record.
Anthony Davis was very productive once again, putting up a double-double of his own with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Rajon Rondo was crucial to the Laker’s success once again, scoring 19 points coming off the bench, being the only bench player to score in double digits for the Lakers.
The Lakers were dominant throughout the entire postseason as their series against the Heat was the only series that they did not win in five games.
This year’s title marks the 17th championship for the franchise, tying the Boston Celtics for the most championships in NBA history. James is now the fourth player in NBA history to win a championship with three different teams, and has also won Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) every time he has won in the Finals.
