Meet Assistant Professor of Communication, Professor Marnie Ritchie. Professor Ritchie teaches rhetorical studies, critical/cultural studies and oversees the debate team.

I caught up with Professor Ritchie and asked her what she is listening to.

What was the last song or album you listened to?
Blue by NewDad

Who’s your favorite musician and/or band?
[FKA] Twigs. Her latest album as a journey back to herself and a love letter to Capricorn suns? Yes.

What did you listen to in college?
Mostly 80s hair metal.

Beatles or Beach Boys?
I like Harry Styles on teenage girl fans of The Beatles: “If they like you, they’re there. They don’t act ‘too cool.’ They like you, and they tell you, which is sick.”

Favorite concert memory?
Listening to Hanson, fully grown adults by that point, play an acoustic version of MMMBop during a concert in college.

Any music you’re looking forward to?
No, actually. I am entirely reactionary/behind/Spotify-dependent.

What are your hobbies outside of work?
Painting, reading, running, and spoiling my cat.
