Meet Associate Professor of Kinesiology Charlie Katica.
Katica is also the Faculty Athletics Representative and Gateway Program Director for the University of Southeastern Norway.Â
I caught up with Katica and asked what he was listening to.
What was the last song or album you listened to?
The last song I listened to was Am I Wrong by Nico and Vinz. The last album I listened to was Paul’s Boutique by the Beastie Boys.
Who’s your favorite musician and/or band?
This is a hard question, because I have a long list of musicians I admire and listen to, but I would say Pearl Jam is the band I have followed the longest and probably listen to the most.
What did you listen to in college?
The bands I listened to the most in college were Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.Â
Beatles or Beach Boys?
Beatles
Favorite concert memory?
My favorite concert memory was probably my first concert experience at Bumbershoot. I was able to hear several different bands that I was listening to on the radio and watching on MTV at that time. It was amazing to see all of the artists live and perform the songs that were a major part of my life during high school.
Any music you’re looking forward to?
I think overall, I am looking forward to seeing new paths within the music industry and seeing how artists will push the limits to create new and authentic art.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Majority of my time outside of work is being a dad Uber for my two children and the different sporting and social events they need to attend. Besides chauffeuring my children, I run a non-profit (Rainier Adaptive Sports) providing recreational and sport opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities. When I have time, I also enjoy riding and racing bikes.
