Featuring 18 performers and songs, Off Broadway: A Musical Revue showcased a wide variety of talent. The cast and crew displayed many different musical and emotional tones throughout the evening’s show.

The crowd that night got to see many acts where the cast embodied their roles. With Brianna Hughes as Mrs. Claus, Surabaya Santa from Songs for a New World was a captivating performance that had laughter rolling through the audience. Brandon Foster rocked the stage in I’m Just a Sidekick from A Very Potter Senior Year, he took on the hilarious role of the sidekick as he danced across the stage.

The stage was utilized simply and creatively. The show used various lighting effects to place the attention on the performances of the cast. Intense and abrupt red lighting in Candy Store from Heathers: The Musical worked well to emphasize the wicked fury of the lead in this four person ensemble. The swirling array of light cast onto the stage during Joel Barkman’s performance of The Starry Night from Starry helped to create the heartfelt and whimsical atmosphere of the piece.

The show’s final song, Relativity from The Theory of Relativity, included the entire ensemble; the cast moved and sang together seamlessly to finish out the season’s opening show. Off Broadway: A Musical Revue was an intriguing and emotional night that gave the audience a glimpse of what to look forward to in future performances.

The Theatre department’s next show will be Macbeth from November the 9th to the 11th at 7:30 PM. More information about this and future performances can be found on the Theatre and Dance department’s web page.
