Rise and Shine Cabaret Cafe and Amorata Essentia Metaphysical Gift Shop are located on the corner of Garfield and C Street.
Owner Tonee Giacaloni is an artist and herbalist who is passionate about performance art, celebrating alchemy through movement, holistic wellness, and plant medicine.
Rise and Shine opened on September 25, 2020 during the pandemic. Giacaloni explained that it was challenging to open “without being able to do the full potential of what I wanted to do, which was to host shows, open mics… I wanted people in here.” Her creative solution was to set shelving in the front of the store during the mobile-order only phase so customers could shop while in line.
The Cabaret Cafe offers a menu specializing in vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Giacaloni states that she wanted a menu that could “help people heal and… take better care of their bodies.”
Her biggest passion right now, however, is performance. She shared that the shows have been bringing her the most joy and her team has expanded the capabilities of the business—their passion bringing people in the doors more and more often for performances. “I also wanted to have a platform for other people to be able to excel in their artistic abilities whether that was performing, painting, etc,” said Giacaloni. “Just having a sense of community in a place that was very welcoming to everyone.”
Her metaphysical shop similarly offers a variety of merchandise, including plants, crystals, and holistic wellness products. For Giacaloni, the hope is that “people can be inspired and see how they can make anything out of nothing.”
The Parkland community continues to grow with unique businesses like Giacaloni’s.
