Stationed to the left of 136th S on Pacific Ave, Lucky’s drive-in has become a staple in the Parkland community.
From its perfectly salty fries, gourmet-like burgers, and carefully crafted milkshakes (banana, oreo, mint, root beer, cherry, mocha). Lucky’s goes beyond your typical drive-in.
It includes a 60s-themed bus with spinning bar-style chairs, tile floors, and 60s music cranking from the stereo. The atmosphere makes it a go-to place for many, but the food keeps them coming back. The restaurant’s signature “Lucky Burger combo,” includes a quarter-pound burger with cheese,
special sauce, onions, pickles, and lettuce; a side of fries; and a soda for $11.73 (or upgrade to a shake for $13.18). The crisp of the vegetables against the special sauce and melt-in-your-mouth patty and cheese is a roll-your-eyes-back delight. The fries pair perfectly—impeccably fried and salted to perfection. The shake completes the classic trio, soothing the saltiness.
Due to its proximity to PLU, it has become a popular spot for students to hang out and catch a bite to eat. I spoke with Sara Haji, a 2nd second-year nursing student at PLU. She shared that she loves Lucky’s because the price is so good for the quality of the food. Haji mused that she would recommend it to a friend “because it gives off the 60s feels. Where it almost feels you are warped into another time.”
Just a five-minute drive down the road, give Lucky’s a visit the next time you want to get a burger with friends or get tired of OMM on a Saturday. “Fresh, delicious food. The old-fashioned way!”
