Racism has been sticking through 2024 and has made it a problem for people to not listen to activists. These activists protest against the people who are mad at Black people because they do not like their skin color. This matters because back in the day Black people were treated badly as well. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) and Rosa Parks made a stand against the people who were treating Black people awful.
Parks was a Black woman who was an activist in Montgomery, Alabama. She was important in the Montgomery bus boycott. The Montgomery bus boycott was where Black people fought to sit in the seat where they wanted. Parks was told to give up her seat to a white person because of the color of her skin. She got arrested for not giving up her seat when the bus driver said so. Parks fought to help other Black people get to their seats so they didn’t have to be forced out of them.
Another important activist was MLK. MLK did not like when people threatened Black people because it made Black people feel disrespected. He wanted to stop segregation everywhere. He did not like city buses for what they did, like getting Black people out of their seats. He wanted everyone to be able to sit next to each other.
MLK also had a speech named ‘I have a Dream.’ He gave his speech in front of thousands of people. He said that the Black children and people should not be separated from the white children and people in schools, neighborhoods, buses, restaurants, bathrooms, and voting stations. He contributed to Civil Rights by fighting for the rights of Black people. He organized marches, sit-ins, and protests to get people to listen to him.
MLK and Rosa Parks made a decision that Black people should not be treated terribly. Other activists also started thinking about how they needed Civil Rights. The Civil Rights movement was needed because Black people were treated badly. In 2024, it’s still important to listen to Rosa Parks and MLK because we don’t want segregation to happen again. We should listen to them because they are trying to make a stand for everyone affected by racism.
