Getting back to music roots: Rainier Valley Radio music fest.

Thousands of Rainier Valley music enthusiasts will gather to dance, dine and have a good time tomorrow night with notable artists from The Voice and America’s Got Talent.

The Rainier Valley Radio’s “Roots & Music” is Festival Aug. 29 at the Rainier Valley Cultural Theater.

Hosted by Rainier Valley Radio, the Festival is a single night all-ages music extravaganza that will feature an array of food, dance, and live music by some of Seattle’s best local performers.

Experience some out of the ordinary events like “Radio DJ Experience”, where festival attendees have the chance to hear what they would sound like on the radio. A “Talent Search” will also be hosted, where Rainier Valley Radio will seek out the best new host in Seattle to host their own radio show.

The main attraction is the night’s musical lineup:  Michael Wastman from The Voice and The EriAm Sisters from America’s Got Talent will headline the Roots and Music Festival. Black Stacks, Dee Lyle, new SubPop Records singer Porter Ray, and legendary drummer George Griffin are also included in the festival’s robust lineup.

“The Voice and America’s Got Talent find some of the nation’s most promising artists in the Rainier Valley,” festival producer Tony Benton said.

In addition to providing fun for all, the Rainier Valley Radio “Roots & Music” Festival will also act as a fundraiser for KVRU 105.7 FM – a community owned and operated radio station that will air in 2016.

As a community owned and operated low-power FM station, KVRU 105.7 is one of seven new Seattle stations approved by the FCC to utilize public airwaves to give communities control over their media.

KVRU showcases local voices, arts and culture to listeners in the Seattle area.

“Rainier Valley has a rich history,” Benton, KVRU founder said. “KVRU is a way for Southeast Seattle residents to tell their own stories, share experiences, and become creators and contributors of media that influences thousands of listeners.”

“Rainier Valley Radio KVRU 105.7 FM will give our local artists their big break like the national television shows are doing today,” Benton said.

The Rainier Valley Radio “Roots & Music” Festival will begin at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Rainier Valley Cultural Theater. Tickets are $20 for General Admission and $50 for Brown Paper Tickets Golden Circle V.I.P. members.
